This blanket was made by craftswoman Svitlana Pavlyuk from the Yavoriv village. Yavoriv is a unique center of hand-weaving blankets made of sheep’s wool, which have the traditional name — Lizhnyk.
Lizhnyk comes from the Ukrainian word “Lizhko, lezhaty” (meaning — “bed, to lie down”). Traditional lizhnyk is a thick woolen blanket woven on a wooden loom. Usually, it has a long fluffy double-sided pile.
Such a plaid made of sheep’s wool is extremely warm. It can be used in the cold winter to keep warm, but also as a decorative element of the interior.
Sizes:
161 cm (63.3 in) x 213 cm (83.8 in)
the size of the tassels — 8-10 cm (3-4 in)
Traditional Lizhnyk has a geometric pattern with floral motifs, made in different colors. Previously, wool was colored with home-made natural dyes — decoctions from the bark of local trees and other plants.
Now there are a lot of natural ready-made dyes. This allows craftsmen to create wool blankets with various and unique patterns.
We may have woolen blankets of various patterns and sizes available. You can clarify the assortment when placing an order.
